Born in the Parish of Ål in the county of Kopparberg (now Dalarna), Stine Sunesson studied at Otte Skiold's Art School in Stockholm in 1952 and travelled to France, Italy and Spain as part of her studies.  Sunesson began painting in watercolour and then started to focus on oil and gouache paintings.

Sunesson is best known for her landscapes of the Swedish countryside, particularly of her native Dalarna, painted in a naive style.  Sunesson exhibited her work during her lifetime but her work has been ganing significantly in popularity in the last few years, several years after her death.
