Ulrika Blide is from Gothenburg, Sweden. She studied painting at Hovedskous painting school 1992-1995. In 2001, she graduated with a combined BA and MFA from the Royal Institute of Art in Stockholm, Mejan (1995-2001).
Ulrika has participated in various solo and group exhibitions in her native Sweden and in the UK. She has been based in London since 2016.
In her installations, sculptures and paintings she has, over the years, dealt with the subject of childhood and innocence coming to terms with the harshness of living reality. Some of her works looks at the expreiences of refugee children away from their home countries.
Lately Ulrika has been working with a series of small colourful paintings taking inspiration from her fathers photos from her childhood. There is a nostalgia to the paintings (several of which celebrate holiday festivals), but also an underlying seriousness.
