Paul Ryan studied Charles Sanders Peirce's semiotics as part of his PhD. In Peirce's semiotics, a person is a sign, hence the present work is called, '7 signs'. Five people met Ryan on the road on his way back to the village of Modalen from a walk. The air glows with the whiteness of the frost and snow and the yellow sun shines onto the mountainside.
