Carl Sigurd Ring Swedish, 1884-1951
Interior, Stockholm Archipelago
oil on canvas
65 x 54 cm.
signed and dated 1910 verso
The present work shows a typical Swedish interior of the early twentieth century with hand-painted furniture, ‘trasmattor’ (woven rag rugs) and painted wooden candlesticks adorning the table by the window. Out of the window, we glimpse a beautiful view of the sea and coastline. Brännskeppet is on the island of Varmdö on the Stockholm Archipelago and the interior is most probably the home of a friend of the artist.
