Born in Stockholm, Alexander has studied with various painters in Sweden and in the USA.  He has been making his living as an artist since the age of 22 exhibiting his work in various parts of the USA and in Europe.  Klingspor was based in New York for 12 years and moved to London three years ago.

Klingspor left Sweden for the United States at the age of nineteen and was apprenticed to the American illustrator and painter Mark English in Kansas City, Missouri.  He then returned to Sweden and joined the workshop of Magnus Bratt, a copyist artist for the National Museum of Sweden who specialiazes in 16th century oil paintings before deciding to return to the U.S.A, this time basing himself in New York.

Klingspor was soon firmly anchored in the American art scene.  His work became increasingly Surrealistic in style with influences of Magic Realism.

In 2018, a solo exhibition of Klingspor's works entitled 'Resenär/Traveller' was held at Prins Eugens Waldemarsudde in Stockholm.

Klingspor's works are in the collections of Whoppie Goldberg, Salman Rushdie and Stellan Skarsgård.
