'The surrealness of Iceland's nature cannot be overstated. My attempts to capture its unusual beauty seem feeble and futile but are nonetheless a compulsion.  My forefathers always looked at the landscape as having a personhood.  This is a feeling that anyone who has visited Iceland understands since the mountains, glaciers, rivers and rocks feel as if they have a personality of their own.  This is something that I try to convey in my work.

The Slovenian philosopher Slavoj Žižek calls Iceland 'the country that God forgot to finish'.  I understand this statement but disagree.  Iceland is as finished as it should be.'
