As winter is fast approaching, I am thrilled to have added several works by Finnish British artist, Alex Gough to the website. Gough who has in the past painted magnificent scenes of the Finnish wilderness above the Arctic Circle, latest work involves intricate engraving of forest scenes onto copper. Some of these works are then enamelled giving them an intricate jewel like quality; they capture the light beautifully.
Gough was inspired to work on copper when he was asked to produce some works for a sauna which formed the central part of Taina Suonio's Finnish Soul garden at this year's Chelsea Flower show. Gough tried to think of a medium that would not be damaged by the heat and humidity of the sauna.
I will be exhibiting Gough's work at a private event later this month.
